Betty Poo VW Van Life

We had always talked about owning a motor home for our retirement days, and it was during lockdown that the conversation came back up, partly because we realised foreign travel would look very different for the next few years. For that reason our purchase wasnt impulsive but the decision to buy was. We started looking in May 2020 focusing on converted Vans, as we wanted something we could drive every day, that would fit on our drive and be easier around small roads. We soon realised that in fact we wanted a Volkswagon camper van and we stumbled across the California Beach. We then quickly switched from the Beach to the Ocean which was factory fitted and just to our liking. We then found Betty Poo an ex demonstration camper van with just 600 miles on the clock. We took the train to Liverpool on 10th June 2020 travelling through an empty St Pancras and for the most being the only people on the train. We arrived, ad a long ish walk to the dealership and there she was. Due to Covid we could not be given a proper tour of her, so we literally drove her away and start our learning. We brought this van having never seen it and we wasnt disappointed. We then drove the Van home getting used to the automatic clutch, working the Sat Nav and just driving a bigger vehicle, it felt wonderful to drive, and we got home ready for our adventures to begin, except they couldnt as we were still in the middle of the lockdown. Our first proper outing was a night at the Canterbury Camp site on 10th July 2020 ahead of our two week summer adventure in July 2020 where we ventured up to the Lakes.
